Bio
Born in 1969 and raised in a small West German village in the province of North Rhine Westphalia Thorsten Abel started his music career in 1988 forming the Indie Rock band Hip Young Things with Dirk Dresselhaus, aka Electronic Music artist Schneider tm.
They released 4 albums on Glitterhouse Records, the European branch of Seattle’s Sup Pop Records and played shows with Soundgarden, Pavement, Pond, Rein Sanction, The Ramones, Beck, The Cramps, Jon Spencer and the Blues Explosion and many others all over Europe. After their ways parted Abel went to Berlin.
In 2006 Thor Abel moved to Vancouver, Canada.
Aside from working with abel collective he is writing musical scores for films and his Ambient project Zuckerzeit IX, a collaboration with Canadian Guitarist Joseph Martin (Bend Sinister).
